Hydronic Heating
What Is Hydronic Heating
A question I am often asked is . . . "What is hydronic heating?" In fact, in many dictionaries the word does not even show up. Hydronic heat simply means a form of heating that uses water to transfer the heat energy from the fuel (oil, gas, wood, electric, etc.) to the place needing heat -- a bedroom, water heater, garage floor etc.
Examples of Hydronic Heating
Examples of systems utilizing hydronics are many:>
- Steam radiation
- Hot water baseboard
- Radiant floor heating
- Radiant wall heating
- Radiant panel radiation
- Radiant ceilings
- Towel warmers
- Snow and ice driveway/walkway melting
- Indirect domestic water heating
- Hydro-air air handlers
The possibilities are almost endless as the imagination. Hydronics allows for greater flexibility, greater comfort, higher overall efficiencies and greater space savings when compared to other heating systems.
